ADOS-2 Administration
The Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, Second Edition (ADOS-2) is the gold-standard observational assessment for autism. Dr. McKinzie is formally certified in its administration and scoring — a distinction that matters for diagnostic accuracy and report credibility with schools and providers.

Feedback Session
Dr. McKinzie meets with you to walk through findings in plain language. You'll leave with a clear diagnosis (or ruling-out), an understanding of your child's profile, and concrete next steps — not more questions.

Ages 2-4
Toddlers & Early Childhood
Early identification is one of the most powerful things a family can do. When autism is identified in the toddler years, children gain access to early intervention services — speech therapy, occupational therapy, ABA — during the period when the developing brain is most responsive. We offer comprehensive evaluations beginning at age 2, tailored to young children's developmental needs.
Ages 5-12
School-Age Children
School brings new social demands, academic expectations, and structured environments that can surface autism in children who appeared to be developing typically in their early years. An evaluation at this stage can unlock IEP and 504 accommodations, help teachers understand your child, and give your family a framework for navigating challenges at home and school. Dr. McKinzie's dual clinical and school psychology training makes her uniquely qualified for this age group.

Adolescents
Autism in adolescents — especially girls — is frequently missed for years. Teens who have developed strong masking strategies may have compensated well enough to avoid earlier identification, while quietly exhausting themselves doing so. Anxiety, depression, and social isolation are common presenting symptoms in this group. An adolescent autism evaluation provides answers to questions that may have been lingering for years, and opens doors to support at a critical developmental window.

Clinical Intake
A 1-hour interview with parents covering developmental history, family background, and presenting concerns. Can be completed in-person or virtually. Rating scales are sent to parents and teachers.

Testing Session(s)
3–5 hours of 1:1 testing with your child, including ADOS-2 administration and cognitive/developmental measures. Sessions are age-appropriate and include built-in breaks. May be split across multiple days.

Report & Feedback
Within 2–4 weeks of the final data collection, Dr. McKinzie meets with you to walk through findings, the diagnosis or ruling-out, your child's strengths profile, and specific next steps.

Minds in Progress is a self-pay practice. We do not accept insurance directly, but we provide a detailed superbill you can submit to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement. We accept FSA and HSA as forms of payment.
